Joseph (Mohan) Remisiar
Connecting our communities today for a better tomorrow.
Joseph Remisiar has been living in Markham for over 21 years, and has an intimate knowledge of the issues that have been affecting Markham since the growth of this culturally diverse city.
Joseph received his Bachelorette in Business Administration, with a major in Management, from Silliman University in Dumaguete, Philippines. After completing his education, Joseph settled down in Markham and has been working in the oil industry in various capacities and departments, including sales, accounting, tax and marketing. He is married to a loving wife, Delishia, and has three beautiful daughters: Melanie, Rachel and Samantha. He has a passion for the arts, and specifically music, having been a bandleader, composer and an organist for his church, as well as having created soundtracks for independent films and his own music albums.
Joseph is a strong believer of neighbourhood collaboration and its necessity in building a better Markham.
Joseph has actively worked on neighbourhood safety and planning initiatives to get communities to come together. Social planning in Markham has had a history of community engagement, and Joseph has been at the forefront of these initiatives. Joseph’s long-term dedication to community involvement and his strong commitment to social planning has been his guiding principle throughout the years, and will help him immensely in carrying the voice of the Markham residents to City Council.
Joseph is also a passionate community activist and a human rights advocate. His dedication to work for those in need, both locally and internationally, has led him to champion various causes. Many Markham residents, and specifically from Ward 8, know him to be the first person at their doorsteps bringing awareness and assembling aid on behalf of the needy, including for the 2004 tsunami that devastated Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India and various other Indian Ocean countries.
As your friend, as your neighbour, and as your community advocate, Joseph has championed causes close to your heart for the last 21 years. Having seen the need for our city to keep up with the dynamic needs of our neighborhoods, Joseph now asks that you elect him into City Council, so that he can unite our communities to build a better Markham.
